As of yesterday the Globe has a new addition. Shifting Gears will be a regular column that will highlight the growth of Boston as a biking city, and follow Menino’s promise to make it such. Other than appointing a bike czar, we haven’t seen much momentum from City Hall, but I’m trying to stay optimistic.

It’s incredible how different riding in Cambridge is vs. riding in Boston. It’s pretty exciting to see the changes happening. I’ve been hearing about pothole reporting lines, and this summer, there will be a help line set up for cyclists to recommend specific streets receiving bike lanes. Try to stay positive everyone, cyclists and motorists alike, we need each other to make this work.
