The cynic in me has been growing with regard to Nicole Freedman (Boston’s bike czarina) and Menino’s commitment to turn Boston into a world class cycling city, but as spring is approaching things seem to be coming together. Boston Bikes, the city’s official cycling site is up and running with resources for bike maps, safety, bike lane and infrastructure suggestions. That’s definitely a big first step in my eyes.

Boston Bikes is part of Mayor Menino’s vision for a vibrant and healthy city that benefits all its citizens. It seeks to make Boston a world-class bicycling city by creating safe and inviting conditions for all residents and visitors.
Bike Boston focuses on improvements in all five universal bike planning areas: Engineering, Enforcement, Education, Encouragement, and Evaluation.

Now that this resource is in place, the next step is to follow through with keeping up to date, and for the bike commission to hammer out the practical from impractical, and begin implementing the changes that they are in the planning stages of now.

The Globe also seems to making good on their promise to keep the city’s bike renaisance in the public eye. They were two articles from yesterday’s paper alone, check out the links below.
